The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two-hour, 60-question multiple-choice examination that is administered three times per year. It is required for admission to the State Bar of New Mexico.
Bar Exam Takers:
- The MPRE may be taken before or after you take the bar exam, but must be completed prior to admission to the Bar. The required score is 80 or above, and the exam must have been taken no earlier than five years prior to your application to take the bar exam and no more than one year after you pass the bar exam. If you took this exam previously for another jurisdiction, you may have that score certified here.
UBE Transfer and Reciprocity Applicants:
- The MPRE must be taken before you can be admitted to practice in New Mexico. The required score is 80 or above, and the exam must have been taken no earlier than five years prior to your application for UBE transfer or reciprocity. If you took this exam previously for another jurisdiction, you may have that score certified here through the NCBE website.
This board does not administer the MPRE. You may take it in any location/state it is offered. To certify a score or register for the MPRE, please go to www.ncbex.org.
